Nordic CIO Forum 2009 - Celebrating Efecte’s 10 Years of Success

The first ever, Efecte Nordic CIO Forum, was held on a sunny Wednesday in Helsinki. The successful event, held on January 28, 2009 gathered the top Nordic CIO’s to discuss the possibilities of business driven IT. Over 80 CIO's from Sweden, Norway, and Finland enjoyed a half-day seminar and afterwards a gala dinner.
The seminar keynote speakers discussed the role of CIO's, IT governance, and aligning IT with business. Gartner’s Director Eija Holmström gave an insight to tomorrow's CIO's characteristics and disciplines. Risto Siilasmaa, the member of the board of Nokia and the founder of F-Secure Corporation, spoke about aligning corporate governance with IT. Siilasmaa also analyzed the critical factors of successful ICT projects. Ismo Platan, CIO of Ruukki, presented CIO's personal learning curve to the top management. Platan illustrated how information can improve the entire organization's productivity. CEO Pekka Lundmark from KOnecranes shared views on business-IT alignment.
YLE, winner of the Business-IT Excellence Award
Nordic CIO Forum ended with the Nordic CIO Forum Gala dinner where Ms Suvi Lindén, Minister of Communications of Finland, analyzed the importance of information technology for the society. Efecte also awarded YLE, Finland's national public service broadcasting company, with a Business-IT Excellence Award 2009 prize. The prize was given to a successful and business-critical IT project that showcased clear business benefits for the organization. Congratulations for the YLE IT team!
