Lappeenranta University of Technology invests in the development of IT operations management
Efecte brings ITIL best-practice solutions to the academic world

 Lappeenranta University of Technology has chosen Efecte's ERP for IT -solution to strengthen its IT operations management. Efecte's IT Asset & Service Management software enables the university to simplify its IT service production. The software includes information on hardware procurement and delivery contracts, as well as a solution bank for ready-made solution models for logged Service Desk support requests.
"Increased performance is an ongoing IT operations management requirement. With Efecte's flexible system, fragmented operational environments can be integrated into a more easily managed whole. The solution enables us to increase our operations’ cost-efficiency and to serve our personnel better," explains Jari Taipale, Service Manager at Lappeenranta University of Technology.
He continues, "The Efecte system guarantees many concrete benefits. It makes it easier to form an overall picture of the current status of our ICT infrastructure. For instance, improved monitoring of incidents enables rapid response to recurring problems and allows us to predict IT operations management loads. Moreover, we are able to manage the hardware base renewal needs and software costs centrally."
Lappeenranta University of Technology has approximately 900 staff members and nearly 5,500 students, all served by the Service Desk. There are approximately 1,800 workstations, with about 500 requests per month, for a total of approximately 6,000 requests a year.
"We have carried out implementation projects for various educational institutions and are familiar with their needs. We wish to contribute to solving challenges posed to the IT operations management of universities, technical schools, and other educational institutes by budgetary limitations, as well as respond to needs related to the vast playing field and multidimensional IT infrastructures," describes Juha Berghäll, Efecte's Country Manager.
Efecte's ERP for IT -solution offers ready-made ITIL operational models and can therefore be implemented quickly. Due to its flexibility, the ERP for IT adapts easily to changes in operating environment.
