Ismo Platan, CIO of Ruukki, and Pertti Ervi, Management Consultant, Join Efecte’s Board

The Board of Directors of Efecte, a growing and internationalizing Finnish software house developing ERP for IT -solutions, has been reinforced by strong experience in IT management and board membership, in the form of Ismo Platan and Pertti Ervi. Platan is CIO of metal manufacturer Ruukki and Ervi a consultant and professional board member. Risto Siilasmaa, member of the Board of Nokia and founder of information security company F-Secure, will continue as Chairman of the Board.
“Efecte has obtained a firm foothold in providing IT management support to Finnish firms, and has the opportunity to grow and internationalize rapidly while broadening its service range. In addition, the strong representation of dynamic Finnish IT know-how on the Board makes membership an interesting prospect. In my view, a dash of experience and the customer perspective will help keep feet firmly on the ground,” explains recently recruited Board member, Ismo Platan.
Platan, who has been CIO of Ruukki since 2003, was chosen as Finnish CIO of the year in 2005. Tietoviikko magazine organized the selection by the impartial panel, the primary criterion being the generation of business benefits through IT. Ismo Platan has also served, for example, as CIO of the Metso and Rauma Corporations.
With over 30 years’ experience of the IT industry, Pertti Ervi has served as CEO of Computer 2000 AG (1995 to 2000) and as a private consultant and board professional since 2000. At the moment, in addition to Efecte’s Board, he is a member of the boards of F-Secure, Inventure, Forte Netservices and Trackway.

Ismo Platan’s skills in IT management leadership and Pertti Ervi’s experience of internationalization strategies will bring significant added value to us at our current stage of development, while reinforcing our ability to continue our profitable growth,” says Efecte’s CEO, Kristian Jaakkola.
In addition to Risto Siilasmaa, Ismo Platan and Pertti Ervi, Basware’s founder and Chairman of its board, Hannu Vaajoensuu, and Itella Logistics’ Vice-President, Global Sales and Marketing, Jan Pawli, are board members.
Efecte’s ERP for IT solution provides the foundation for business driven IT. It is used by some 250 Nordic organizations and, by 2008, the company aims to achieve net sales of EUR 11 million and improve the profitability of its subsidiaries. It intends to recruit 20 to 30 new staff this year.
Of Finland’s 100 largest companies, almost half have chosen Efecte to enhance their IT management operations. Other customers include 8 out of 10 of Finland’s largest cities, a host of smaller towns and municipalities, and several ministries and The Finnish Parliament.
