Fennia uses Efecte ITIL solutions for information management
April 17, 2007
Fennia Mutual Insurance Company has chosen Efecte’s IT Operations Management system. As a result of commissioning this solution, Fennia adopted ITIL’s best practice operating models in order to make its IT operations more efficient.
Fennia’s IT department produces services for approximately 950 users. IT support and maintenance services are produced internally by 16 employees.
”Our goal was to balance service needs with the resources available. With more efficient IT support service level control and reporting, we can offer end users better quality IT services while supporting our IT personnel in their work. Process development work is supported by ITIL’s (IT Infrastructure Library) ready-made best practices. In addition to this, we adapted some processes based on our own operating models”, Fennia’s IT service manager, Elina Kotilainen relates.
The IT Operations Management solution selection criteria were support for ITIL processes, expandability and the possibility of integration with existing systems. ”Efecte’s solution was the best alternative for us, since in addition to ready-made process models it enabled us to create our own processes for part of everyday IT service management. Efecte’s IT asset and license management solution, which we have used for years, has proven reliable and the expansion of that system into an IT service management system was a natural decision”, Kotilainen continues.
The implementation of the ITIL operating model IT resource planning system was performed rapidly with the help of Efecte’s consults, in only four months. A centralized solution covers the Efecte Service Desk, Incident and Problem Management and the Knowledge Base.
"As a result of this project, our processes have become much clearer. We have access to the latest IT environment information; workstations, users, software and contracts as well as accurate support service loading information. Since expanding the system, we have performed less unnecessary work, since all service requests are registered in Efecte’s system, which also includes the related solutions.
”IT services are very business critical, which can be seen from the IT management quality requirements. The system expansion now underway for our long-term customer, Fennia, supports not only our IT operations but also the growth of the whole organization. High-quality and flexible IT services make the work more efficient for end-users, which enhances the productivity of the whole organization”, Efecte’s Country Manager Juha Berghäll explains.
The software house, Efecte, develops IT Operations Management solutions. More than 250 Nordic companies and organizations already use solutions by Efecte, founded in 1998.
