Efecte and Talentor resolve growth challenges together
- Competition for skilled people in the IT business increases
2007-10-18

Finnish software company Efecte Corp. has outsourced its entire recruitment process to recruitment company Talentor. In the context of the IT boom, competition for skilled people is increasing, with a shortage of suitable human resources in the Helsinki Metropolitan Area. As a rapidly growing company, Efecte outsourced the recruitment process to pursue more visibility in the job-hunting market, thereby allowing key personnel to devote more time to developing the company’s core operations.

"For a company that is becoming global, recruitment is a crucial part of business development. It cannot form a bottleneck," states Efecte CEO Kristian Jaakkola. "In 2006, employees could still be fairly easily found through our own networks, but the situation has changed with the heated job market. We are recruiting 35 people in the Nordic countries this year and therefore needed the support of a proficient recruitment partner. We are seeking experienced sales managers, project managers, system consultants, and product development professionals, in particular," he continues. Efecte currently has 80 employees, so the recruitment figures are large.

Initially, the cooperation between Efecte and Talentor included a few separate commissions related to the most challenging recruitment operations for which newspaper and electronic job advertisements did not attract sufficiently skilled applicants. The expanded cooperation covers the entire recruitment process.

Skilled people to a growth company

As a growth company, Efecte finds it important to support rapid internationalization by finding experienced and skilled people who are familiar with the industry. The recruitment process was outsourced to find the greatest expertise and render the time management of key personnel more efficient. "For growth, it is important that our employees concentrate on their core skills: the sales manager on account management and the service manager on creating service experiences. By outsourcing the recruitment process except for the final selection, we can improve our efficiency considerably," Kristian Jaakkola says.

The ability to understand the business of the hiring company and the associated requirements is essential to the partnership. "For recruitment, we see familiarity with the customer as the most important aspect of our joint objective. We consider it important that our customers meet with only competent persons who have the right personality for the job and that the customer can trust Talentor to present the duties and the organization appropriately. We want to identify the ‘Efecte DNA’ in applicants – in other words, find the talents most suitable for Efecte," explains Talentor CEO Mika Nevasuo.

"Our goal is to become one of the most attractive employers in the Nordic IT industry in the next couple of years. The objective of the Efecte Academy, established at the start of the year, is to acquaint new employees with Efecte's work methods and processes, and the ’Efecte spirit,’ in intensive training," says Efecte CEO Kristian Jaakkola. Upon completion of the recruitment process, the Efecte training system is used to ensure that new employees attain meaningful responsibilities quickly via a clearly defined sphere of responsibilities.

In addition to improving the efficiency of the recruitment process, Talentor aims to support development of the public’s view of the employer. The employer’s image is receiving increasing emphasis, and the quality experienced by applicants can also affect the company’s chances in the competition for the most skilled human resources. According to the latest applicant satisfaction survey, 67% of the applicants interviewed ranked Talentor's service better than that experienced with other recruitment companies. The future cooperation between Efecte and Talentor will also entail mapping applicant expectations to employer.
